TG 186 means "Trger Geschwader" - "carrier Geschwader",
(J) means "Jagd" - "fighter" and was intended to equip the
projected German aircraft carrier "Graf Zeppelin" - hence the
crest of the count Zeppelin family. It was launched on December
8th 1938 and was intended to carry several different squadrons,
including 4.(Stuka)/186 with Ju87C-0 with foldable wings.

6.(J)/186 was stationed in Kiel-Holtenau and protected the German
Navy and the German Bight against RAF attacks during 1939 and
1940. In September 39 it took part with the Poland campaign.
Later the squadron was re-equipped with the Bf109T, i.e.
the long-span carrier version of the 109.
